May 17, 2026 Blackwoods Campground, Acadia

Sunday morning began with mass at Holy Redeemer Church in Bar Harbor, a walk through town and stop at the laundromat. The town reminded me of a grown up Door County town. Lots of art galleries.

We stopped at a Farmers Market for some fiddleheads for dinner. If you think they look like something from your shady garden, you’re right. Fiddlehead ferns.

We got to Acadia mid-day and were delighted when the ranger told us he could update our expired Park pass and apply the 50% discount. A refund of $100. He told us to go for a lobster dinner.

A short distance from our campsite we noticed a sign for a path. Of course Tom knew the sign meant we could ride bikes on the path.

At the end of the path was a one-way 2 lane road for bikes and cars. It was great. Lots of overlooks.

What a treat to behold. (Tom too!)

Back to the campsite for a little Plein air work while Tom went for campfire wood.

And fiddleheads for dinner. Kind of like asparagus.

This morning I walked down that path and crossed the road and found a log bench to sit on and take in the view.

Off on our bikes today for more exploring. The temp is cool. High of 59° today, which is right now.
